Exciting news, fang fans! Just like they did with the official artwork for The Vampire Diaries Season 6, The CW also recently unveiled a new poster for The Originals Season 2, via The Hollywood Reporter. And just like TVD’s group shot, the one for the network’s dark spin-off is absolutely spell-binding — and packed with menacing clues as well. Check it out below!

Interesting enough, there are a few notable differences. For starters, the whole cast isn’t pictured. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) are seated at polar ends of a long, heavy table; “Little Witch” Davina Claire (Danielle Campbell) is located right next to Marcel; the show’s lone human Cami (Leah Pipes) stands between Klaus and his brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies); and bayou queen and freshly minted hybrid Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is sprawled across a bench, which is draped with a wolf’s hide, while a werewolf prowls nearby. However, Rebekah Mikaelson is noticeably missing from the photo. While this omission breaks our hearts, we find solace in the fact that she appears in the teaser trailer with Baby Hope and how during the show’s Q&A panel at PaleyFest 2014, Claire Holt promised that her character was going to pop up every now and then to check in on her brothers.

Another way in which The Originals Season 2 poster diverges from the TVD Season 6 one?The TVD key art exudes a high sense of urgency and foreboding whereas the stars in The Originals shot are just hanging around in a spacious room that positively screams “Gothic decor” with its high ceilings, dark furniture, dimly lit candelabra, and boar head mounted on the wall behind them. The whole bunch of them look relaxed and positively wicked, as opposed to confused and distressed. Confidence radiates from their bodies, and their powerful postures and amused smirks have quite the chilling effect. Meanwhile, they’re seated at a long table at which a lavish meal awaits, which makes the tagline warning — “Eat, drink and be wary” — all the more sinister.

So, loves, what do you think of the new poster? Post your critique in the comments, and be sure to tune in to the season two premiere of The Originals on Monday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT!
